The Final Global Challenge

nakaye

The final global challenge is an annual competition held in different countries under many themes to help solve problems the earth is facing. Each country in the world has to take a team of five between the ages of 14 and 18 to participate in the games.
This year`s theme was “Hydrogen Horizons” where each team had to make a robot that can collect hydrogen and oxygen balls and store them in their reservoirs either by shooting using the robot or a human player assist with oxygen balls.
At the competitions, three teams from different countries were put in an alliance to work together against other three teams. This was given a special term known as coopertition derived from competition and cooperating.
Team Uganda comprises five passionate girls about STEM and robotics who underwent training from Apps and Girls. Using the skills taught to us we were able to make a robot that could collect, store, dump the hydrogen balls and also hang on the hydrogen oxygen reservoir.
We were put in alliance with different teams like China, Moldova, Kenya, US Virgin Islands and many others for each game. We advanced slowly through the ranks until our alliance with China and Eritrea enabled us to win gold medals.
This was an enriching experience as we met different teams with many ideas who helped us and we also helped them throughout the competition. We have been able to learn new concepts in subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
“I send a special note of gratitude for Apps and Girls for enabling us reach greater heights and for mentoring many young girls in STEM activities to make an impact on the World” Said Nakaye Matilda S.3 E.
